Introducing Charlie - Our Cavoodle

Recently I've been quite taken with a cavoodle puppy on Instagram called "Toby Wigglebottom". He's very cute and his owners post a daily photo of him and comments as though Toby is talking. It's so cute and Toby reminds me of when our Charlie was a puppy.  I totally understand why they call their puppy "Toby Wigglebottom". When our dog, Charlie wags his tail more than half is body is caught up in the wag. It's so adorable. He does an excited little dance.

Just so my little dog doesn't get jealous of my affection for Toby, here are some photos of the Lilyfield Life cavoodle, Charlie.

4 weeks old - when we chose him from the litter

A couple of months old and oh so cute!

He still sits like this with one leg tucked underneath

Much loved (and man-handled) by my kids

He's about a year old below here and very scruffy!

He's 3 years old now and looking much more respectable. I sometimes get him shaved but I don't like how it makes him look very skinny and poodle-like. I prefer to just trim him with the scissors and keep him slightly fluffy.

He's so easy to have around and obedient. He's a little shy of other dogs at first but so friendly to humans. I really recommend cavoodles as a breed. They don't shed and are hypo-allergenic. They are easily trained and intelligent and importantly they don't yap and aren't neurotic like some small dogs.

At the vet last week for his annual health check
He also loves a spot in the sun or a snuggle on the couch.

I'd have to say that I'm not really a dog person overall but I really love Charlie. Actually it quite surprises me how much I love him!  I wasn't expecting that when we bought him. He's such good company. He loves walking with me in the mornings, he lies patiently besides me when I paint and snuggles up to me on the couch at night when I relax. At night he sleeps on the floor next to my side of the bed. He does snore at times but it doesn't wake me up - it does wake Phil up though...and if that happens Charlie finds himself sleeping in the hallway!

Are you a dog person?
What's your favourite breed?

And go check out "tobywigglebottom" on Instagram!

cheers
Fiona

  2. Oh he is so cute! I think that is what Sarah from a Beach Cottage has recently got too? We had a Golden Retriever named Tequila in NZ, and we made the heard decision to leave her behind when we moved over here (she was 9 yrs old, we had no idea where we were going to settle, get work, etc, all too hard!) I had got her from my parents and husband as a 31st birthday present, what a lovely surprise that was, which included a road trip to Dunedin to collect her...lovely memories! Thankfully our lovely friends (the ones we went to the Gold Coast last week to see when they came over on holiday) adopted her, and love her to bits (in fact they are alot softer on her than we ever were, she was an outside dog at our house!) I was a wee bit sad last week when my friend told me that when she walks Tequila, and goes down our street, she without fail stops outside our (her) old house and looks up the driveway :(

  4. my family recently adopted a little cavoodle - identical to yours, and also called Charlie! I google-imaged 'charlie the cavoodle' just for the fun of it; imagine my surprise when a dog looking so very similar to mine appeared! Beautiful puppy, you should be very proud to have him.
