One of the families at our local school have recently renovated a little weatherboard house that is literally around the corner from my house. Tim is a local interior designer and his wife Libby is an art consultant. They both have beautiful taste and definitely know how to transform a space into a beautiful home. Check it out for yourself!

When they began the renovation, Libby was pregnant with their second child so they wanted a quick renovation and to transform their house that was in dire need of some love and to make it liveable for their young, growing family.
To keep the integrity of the house's age and accentuate the original features they kept the shiplap walls in the hallway and the ornate ceilings. It certainly suits this weatherboard cottage and contrasts well with their eclectic furniture.
The wooden floors were in an okay condition so Tim and Libby scrubbed them down with steel wool and left them unvarnished. The result is a soft beautiful flooring that looks amazing and shows the years of footsteps throughout the house. Talk about a labour of love - aren't they gorgeous.
The interior of the house was painted white to give a blank slate for their expansive collection of art. They also have a great mix of furniture that really is well displayed in the house. I guess that's what happens when you live with an interior designer and an artist.
Did you notice the tree trunk side table? I've seen tree trunks used before but never one with branches as legs. Such a nice little spot to have an evening glass on wine in, I think.
A lot of the original kitchen was retained as eventually Tim and Libby will do a major renovation and turn the house into a 4 bedroom house. in the meantime, I love the mix of retro fittings, open shelves and colourful accessories. I also love the little vintage blue and taupe jugs in the kitchen! Tim, if they go missing you know where they are!
I also love this little alcove off the kitchen for the girl's craft desk area. Good to keep an eye on the kids while you cook dinner.
Tim and Libby's bedroom has a beautiful pressed celling and they have a lot of their art collection on display in this room. Just beautiful. I think it's a lovely idea to have some beautiful art in your bedroom - a few special pieces not on display for everyone to see.
