I am missing a little prettiness in my life at the moment - working in the city I really notice the lack of beauty surrounding me. So many grey and black drab suits, the whole CBD is pretty much devoid of colour ...and full of lots of stressed people. Although where I get my coffee the girl who takes order is amazing, greeting the multitude of people wanting their early morning shot of caffeine with a gorgeous smile and after a few days she already knew my order and gets it ready before I even ask. What a memory.
And of course I have the beautiful view of Circular Quay to check out when I remember to look up from my computer and spreadsheets!
Anyway seeing you all seem to like my what's on auction blog posts I thought I'd share my picks for today at Lawson's in Annandale.
Some great mirrors, as always.

If I bought this cabinet below I would paint it white with my little putty coloured fleur de lis on the door. I think it is a gorgeous cabinet.

I have a thing for long chests of drawers. I'm not a fan of "tall boys" - those tall chests of drawers that are one big drawer wide. Unless they are in a niche by a fireplace perhaps. But I do love long low chests of drawers. Today their are 2 chests of drawers that I like (both the same). Once again I would paint these white -but you already knew that, didn't you.

These matching cabinets below would be a great buy - they would make great bedside tables or you could use them in a symmetrical hallway.
White paint treatment again....

Auctions are a great place to buy dining tables - they never seem to sell for too much. I bought my beautiful ornately carved antique French oak 8 seater dining table at auction for $105.
This recycled elm table is beautiful. and how cute are those little green stools on top.

and possibly my favourite piece for sale in today's auction is this cute little desk. How beautiful are the carvings and shape. If I were going today I would definitely bid on this. and then of course I'd paint it white...

Remember if any items interest you, make your way over to Annandale to Lawson's this morning or you can place an absentee bid, bid online or bid by phone but you need to pre-register. If you are ever looking for a specific piece let me know and I can keep an eye out for you.
It's almost the weekend again. Yay!! I will be finalising the details for my US trip -I'll share more about it soon with you and I definitely am going to paint something also. And tonight I'm catching up with my gorgeous sister in law - she's always great for a laugh so i know it'll be a fun night.
Hope you have a good one also
Fiona xx

Love that gold framed mirror. Have a great weekend. The US sounds interesting. Thanks for entering my giveaway too.

I was on the harbour a few weeks ago on a magical day and couldn't get enough of it. I don't visit Sydney enough! I need to! X
ReplyDeleteugh! I remember those drab days in the city. So much rush and the grey!! I feel for you, and I'm glad you get a little of the harbour to brighten your day.
ReplyDeleteI love that first mirror, and I had no idea about dining tables being so cheap at auction. When we're ready for a new one (ie when my children no longer stab it with their fork as soon as I'm not looking during dinner) that's where I'll look!
Oh that cute little desk is my favourite too! A-M xx
