Big white bedsides now bound for Perth

Lilyfield Life french white hand painted bedside tables

The other night I had a nice little bit of synchronicity. I had to deliver a sideboard to Killara and just before I was leaving home a friend texted me and said I've seen some lovely bedside tables for sale in Pymble that are very Lilyfield Life. So I called the lady who was selling them and they were still available. I've bought from the lady a few times before - she clears out old houses when people are moving into nursing homes so she often has great pieces. When I arrived to pick the bedsides up, I happened to mention that I had been at a party the weekend before one street away. She had been at the same party! Mutual friends. Small world.  Anyway the bedsides are beautiful. Solid cedar and beautiful carved details.

I have a customer in Perth looking for bedside tables so I sent her the photo above and said what did she think. She said no too heavy and chunky. So I just started painting and listed them for sale on my page. She then saw the post and said "Wow I didn't think they would look like that I love them", so now they are headed for Perth.

Paint makes a world of difference.

I used a very soft French wash on these and love the subtle effect it gives.

I love my customers and that people ship my furniture all over Australia to have it in their homes.

  1. Hi Fiona, the bedsides look amazing. I love how the paint makes the details pop. You mentioned a light french wash. How does that work?

  2. Beautiful, what an amazing difference, love the colour, 'just my cup of tea' as they say here in England!

  3. Hi Fiona,

I just had to write to you in relation to the beautiful bed side tables featured today.
You always do such a fabulous job on all your furniture finds and the amount of hours spent on your work just goes to show that its done out of love as well as your incredible talent.
I hope you don't mind me emailing you.
I also loved your posts from Italy, I actually lived there for 3 years and it's such a beautiful country - during the warmer months - but the Winter's life certainly got hard. I was in Pescara on the Adriatic Sea side, I'm tempted to return for a catch up with friends but I'm now riddled with Osteo-arthritis all over, so I don't think I could stand the long flight, but I get to speak to them regularly and it makes me think in Italian again.
Once again, thank you for your beautiful posts, I know all your followers feel the same.

    Kindest regards

    1. Thanks so much Robyn, I love getting emails – good to know people are reading and getting joy rom my work. Thank you. I am sorry to hear about your osteoarthritis. Mum had RA and it was debilitating. Glad you could go to Italy vicariously through my emails 
      Much appreciated
