Vintage file cabinet coffee table

Good morning! Hope you are having a good week. I’m heading off to bootcamp in 10 mins so thought I’d quickly share this little coffee /side table I made from a vintage filing unit.
I have added castor feet to raise the unit and add to its industrial vibe. I painted the unit in a graphite paint with a lovely satin finish and also added little file cup handles.

NOW SOLD

Custom job in white satin enamel

Here’s a great before and after : the magic of white paint. Jennifer wanted to update her furniture. It was yellow, red, timber and glazed with a diamond pattern. So much going on. She wanted the freshness of white. It’s going to make the room so much fresher also.

And this cabinet.

So lovely with the duck egg inside. It was makes it pop.

Here’s The before. It really needed an update.

It’s getting picked up early tomorrow morning and I’m sure Jennifer is going to love it

Black painted sideboards and more

Oh my goodness it’s been a while hasn’t it. Hope I still have a few readers out there! Hope you are surviving Covid and the crazy new life we are living. I have been painting away and keeping busy. I seem to have been painting lots of black pieces lately.

This first sideboard was snapped up by Rochelle and Sean in Canberra. A lovely old oak piece with beautiful old glass in the door. The very old glass with the wavy finish as it’s hand blown.

Jo saw the above sideboard and asked me to paint hers the same.

And her mirror to match. The mirror was brown and the original finished was flaking off. So much better now

I also finished these tall slim drawers (now sold).

I am in the middle of a few custom jobs that I’ll share soon. A huge difference.

Hope you are all well.

Gorgeous old cutlery canteen bedside table

Hello again! Oh wow it’s been a while hasn’t it. Hopefully you also follow me on social media as that’s where I have been busy. Anyway I thought I’d share my latest piece.

A lovely old timber cutlery canteen that I thought would work so well for a bedside or jewellery storage. There’s a single drawer then a section under the lift up top with a compartment that would be great to hang necklace in. The interior is lined with an embossed leather. I have fully painted this inside and out in stunning French blue grey, with a waxed and distressed finish. Gorgeous details on this piece with fluted edges and hand carved legs . None of the locks work but there is the sweetest little key for the interior panel.
64w x 45d x 79h cm
$325
Pickup Lilyfield or delivery available

The little down section on the lid is very cute. I thought you could add some hooks and use it to store necklaces.

The colour of this is beautiful, I matched this off an antique French frame years ago and got my chalk paint supplier to mix it for me. They did a wonderful job.

If you are interested in purchasing please get in touch

Oak bench seat in navy

Good morning, I love this time of year with the sun a little lower in the sky giving us beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Even though we are at home we have Callan Park at our door step to walk in.

I have been doing lots of work still and yesterday painted a lovely old oak bench seat.

How cute is Charlie.

This seat is really similar to one I did about a month ago. And everyone loved it so I decided to paint this one navy as well.

Such great pieces for a hallway with the storage inside. I love the umbrella holders on the sides also. Isn’t it just wonderful that people still want these old pieces and that they get to live on.

Have a lovely day. Hope you get to do something you love.  I am working on a desk today which are also in great demand with so many people working from home at the moment.

Beautiful demi lune French bedside tables

Hello lovely, wow the world certainly has changed in the last month. I hope you are all going okay with Covid 19 and isolation lockdowns. Things are okay with us at the moment. Australia is not yet in full lockdown but we are pretty much permanently in home except for walks in the park, furniture deliveries and the supermarket. Phil is working from home, the kids are online schooling and at the moment I am still working. I am not 100% certain how long I will be able to source inventory but at the moment I have some good pieces to paint and sell so it's okay, However my heart is very sad for all the people so sick, dying alone or lost their jobs and businesses. What an impact on the whole world this virus is having.

Today I finished these beautiful French bedside tables. I have painted them in a lovely taupe chalk paint - like soft French linen and I have added some gold Rub n Buff to the brass ormulu and handles.

Available: a stunning pair of French bedside tables. These are so lovely with the brass ormulu and shapely curves. I have painted these in a beautiful taupe chalk paint (like a pale French linen), gently distressed and a smooth waxed finish. So practical with three small drawers and a shelf below. Super pretty also for a guest room or even in a corner of your lounge room or hallway.
59w x 32d x 82h cm
$750 the pair

If these don’t sell as a pair in the next week, I will separate and list for $395 each so DM me to be in the wait list for a single one.
Pickup Lilyfield or delivery available
(Now both sold )

I have also updated my for sale page so have a look if you are looking around your house while "sheltering in place" and want to update your home :)

Take care

Vintage secretaire in navy blue chalk paint with gold interior

Oh I’m so happy with this piece. What a transformation. I couldn’t even bring myself to take a before photo as it was so ugly. Red cheery timber and red gloss paint interior. I just love it now navy and gold.

Lovely reeded drawer fronts on the two top small drawers.

I painted the interior pigeon holes in gold to match the hardware. Also gold is a great colour to cover red :)  I just love classiness of this piece and it seems so did my customers as this was snapped up from the sneak peek I shared.

Have a good weekend

French mirrors and upholstered stool

Good afternoon, I’m waiting to view some furniture to buy but have about 20 minutes to spare so thought I would quickly share some pieces I have had fun painting this week. For these pieces I have first painted with a grey then dry brushed white over the top and then added waxes. I love this way of painting as it’s creative and gives a beautiful patina. Use black and brown wax to create a dark patina and clear or white waxes for a light pale look.

These pieces have all sold so it seems my customers love this look also.

What about you?

A few interesting pieces lately

Good morning! I have been knee deep in sourcing homewares and  an you believe it looking at Christmas homewares already. I have found some beautiful pieces that I’m really excited to with you over the next year.

On the furniture front I have been busy as always. I thought I’d share a few different pieces I have painted lately. Most of these have already sold.

I finished this vintage hexagonal table yesterday, painted in black chalk paint and black waxed. I love the bamboo detail. Such a handy table for a lamp or vignette. Also I will be stocking these beautiful faux dried hydrangeas so let me know if you want to purchase them. (The table has sold with a few people wanting it).

This beautiful secretaire is made by master craftsmen Beard Watson. I have painted it graphite and given it a super smooth finish. I absolutely love this desk and always love the mix of graphite against timber so left the interior the original timber. The detailed apron of this is lovely.

The beautiful artwork is a vintage Australian painting and is still available $145.

I have had quite a few vintage bird ages lately and they have all sold except for this one. This is a lovely old timber birdcage with timber spikes (they are often metal wore).

Available: a large timber bird cage that’s completely timber, even the cage spokes (usually metal). The black paint is quite chippy but the birdcage is in perfect condition besides that. Lifts into three parts. A lovely piece. I think decorative but actually big enough for a small bird. (But no pull out tray for cleaning so there’s that :) )
I personally would be using it for styling.
41w x 31d x 75h cm

Pickup Lilyfield or postage available

My favourite quirky piece lately has been this little rocking horse that’s heading off to Bec near Bendigo.

This horse was all coloured (muted colours but not ones I particularly liked) so I painted it grey then dry brushed it white. I love the look of it now. Much more me :)

Wishing you a lovely day
