Lovely Feedback - thank you!

I have lovely customers!! Thank you all for being so kind. I got some lovely feedback today from Geraldine about this cabinet I recently painted for her.

"Hi Fiona
Here is a photo of the hutch (finally). My apologies for taking so long. I just couldn’t get a good picture to do the cabinet justice (and I still can’t).
We are very happy with this piece – it may not be as lush as other pieces but I am always happy to see things reused, repurposed and reloved. I can imagine that this was difficult to paint – but you did a great job. You are very talented!
I love reading your blog, and wish you all the best with your renovations.
cheers
Geraldine"

Here's the cabinet before on the left (very reddish brown) and finished but not assembled on the right. It was too big for me to reassembled and take staging photos so it's lovely to see it all together and filled back at Geraldine's house.

Thanks Geraldine for the lovely feedback, you made my day.

  1. Hi Fiona,
You have done a great job with this piece as always! I have an almost identical dresser to this one that I would love to paint but have no idea how I can paint the cross pieces over the glass. They don't seem to be removable - could you please explain how you painted these glass doors?
    Thank you.

    1. Hi anonymous, I would imagine the eassiest way would be to maskoff the glass using one af several good quality amsking tapes now available. I had to do this for 8 10 lite doors !!! took forever but the results were worth it. If you get any slight bleed through of paint, a razor blade will easily take of the residue. Good Luck

    2. hi Louise and Patricia
I didn't tape - I just painted and then scrapped the paint off the glass with a razor blade. This piece was so difficult to be honest. Those glass doors weren't removable and it was a contortion act to paint it.cheers Fiona

  2. Hearing lovely things about your work never gets old...I guess the creative process makes us a little vulnerable? Anyway, I'l chime in with Geraldine...It's beautiful as are all of your other pieces! :)

    1. Thanks Robin - I hadn't heard from her for a while so started thinking perhaps she wasn't happy!

    1. I colour matched a satin paint to Paris Grey. The client didn't want the piece waxed and I didn't want to paint three coats then sdo three coats of poly on top!
