Catching up - latest pieces

Oh it's been so long since I have posted, thanks to those people who have checked in on me. I have grand plans on regularly updating here but I get very busy and other things take priority. Anyway thanks for reading when you do stop by. I always appreciate your comments and thoughts.

I finished this lovely vintage secretaire today. I haven't been painting very much in the last couple of weeks because I've injured my arm and hand and am trying to rest it as much as possible.

Vintage French style secretaire desk painted in my beautiful French sage grey with crisp white interior.
106h x 75w x 46d
(80cm deep with desk front extended)
$700

This is very similar to another one that I painted for a customer recently. I just love this soft grey and have been using it a fair bit on pieces.

This is the interior of one that has already sold

and this little side table
(SOLD)

and these gorgeous drawers

I had a full on weekend with just family stuff and am tired still tonight so it might be an early night for me. Sometimes it all just hits you doesn't it. Perhaps I'm coming down with a cold. Feeling flat...

I have a back log of work and a studio full of furniture so I need to get busy tomorrow.
I have loads of finished pieces to share with you though so I'll make sure I blog more regularly.

I'd love to hear from you if you are still reading
Fiona xx

  1. I love seeing your painted pieces Fiona even though I don't always comment. You always do such a lovely job. I am also painting a buffet/hutch at the moment but want to back the hutch in wallpaper and am just waiting on some samples for that. I have never used wall paper before so should be interesting. Keep up the great work and always look forward to your posts. take care, Maryann

  2. Yes, Fiona, still reading. Very sorry to hear of your injuries and illness! Hope both get better very soon.

I absolutely love the blue drawers. Is that ASCP? They've turned out beautifully, and the black handles always look so good.
    Take care.

    1. Hi Elisabeth the pieces shown are all in the same colour, my custom mixed grey - not Annie Sloan. It's mixed to match an antique piece from france so very authentic. I love it.
The pieces just look different in different lights.
      Thanks so much
      Fiona

  5. Hi Fiona

Sorry to hear about your hand, it must be very frustrating when you just want get on with painting. I feel the same but for me, my day job and family stuff leave very little time.

I find it so relaxing and therapeutic when I do get a chance to paint and I'm getting more confident, so many things in my house I'd like to paint.

I've been hearing about a new paint here in the UK. It's a chalk paint with wax in it so you don't have to wax, thinking of trying it but a bit skeptical. I think l'll get a tester pot but it's expensive at £5.95 for 100ml but it's supposed to give good coverage, no priming or sanding, like Annie Sloan.

Hope you recover soon and get back to painting, you'll feel better because you'll be back to a more normal routine.

I know what you mean about feeling a bit flat, me too, on a bit of a treadmill. Let's paint our blues away!

    Best wishes

    1. Thanks Maria – I will have to investigate that paint but I’m pretty sure we can’t get it here.
I am getting back into the swing of things. Funny how even a week can change our attitudes 
