I recently bought a new French oak dining table and chairs - all vintage and preloved and all waiting a transformation. I'm not keen at all on the shiny honey brown colour of the chairs in particular - especially with the grubby pink chair pads but that can all be changed.
Yesterday I found these photos of Rachel Ashwell's furniture on her website http://www.shabbychic.com/ and also of her own dining chairs in her Malibu Beach house and thought that's exactly how I want my chairs to look. My chairs have such a similiar shape to the top photo. I'm really looking forward to this makeover. I think this treatment will really lighten up my dining room.
and this chair below although I'm not so keen on the slip cover - I'll just recover the pink pad.

ReplyDeleteFiona this setting is just stunning. I would do the chairs in a lovely linen fabric. Ikea have some out at the moment and even spotlight has a nice one. White chairs with linen upholstery I can see it now. Sandy
