One man's trash...

...is this woman's treasure!

Our suburb had a council cleanup day today  - where the council rubbish trucks come and get everyone's junk that they've hauled out this weekend to the footpath.

I found this beauty in a massive pile of junk across the road from our house.

Such beautiful legs.  I started work on it immediately and I've already stripped and sanded it and primed the base. I'll finish it tomorrow hopefully.

All for free and saved from landfill. Feeling very happy.

Cheers
Fiona

  4. I wish we had collections like that! What a lovely table. I love the thought of seeing the beauty beneath what others have rejected and bringing it out. I suppose it would be cheeky to go over and show them a picture of what you do with their rejected table? :)

  5. Can't wait to see how beautiful you'll make it! Also, thanks for all the tips and words of encouragement on my blog regarding my fear of painting furniture...you've motivated me to paint something this weekend! Wish me luck!

  8. We used to have a yearly pick up in our neighborhood but instead they now allow you to put out one item each week. I've done it several times, not with the idea of it ever making it to the trash but rather to give someone, like yourself, the opportunity to take it. If it's not taken, I schlepp it back into the garage so it doesn't end up in the landfill.
