Pedestal Table Revival

I bought this round pedestal table on eBay for a grand total of $5 (let's not factor in 40 minute drive each way to pick it up as that would add to the cost but as I said I'm just ignoring that and remembering to buy local next time!) Do any of you get carried away and end up travelling too far for bargain furniture?

I've painted the base in my trusty Dulux Limed White Quarter strength and stained the top a dark walnut. For the stain and finish I used an all-in-one product: Wattyl Satin Stain and Varnish. I wasn't sure how this would go but it was very easy to use. I sanded it down between coats with 0000 Superfine Sifa Steel Wool.

I'm very pleased with the result. The table is totally transformed. I'm almost wishing I needed a little dining table! But this beauty will be being listed on eBay.

I forgot to take before photos as I was in such a rush to get started but here are the photos that were on the eBay ad.  I really don't like this 1970s yellow pine.

cheers
Fiona

  8. nicely done! love the contrast in colors. I hope you got my comment on your harlequin desk- I was trying to do the word verification, and the whole thing disappeared. :( Hopefully you got it in email form anyway. Both projects are fantastic- thank you so much for linking these up at Transformations and Treasures!
