Good Morning! While I have my nephew here working for me, priming and sanding some furniture ready for me to paint, I thought I'd sit down and share some fun I've been having with the iPhone app Waterlogue. For ages I've been wanting to do some watercolour sketches of my painted furniture. I think of it all the time, but it's never a priority for me to actually sit down and make the time to do it.
Over Christmas holidays I discovered the app that turns your photos into watercolour paintings. I may actually never pick up my paint brushes again! seriously though it's fantastic but it does leave me itching to do some of my own paintings.
I absolutely love seeing the photos rendered into "paintings". It'would be a good way to learn how to do watercolour painting also.
There are many different techniques you can add to change your paintings - add more pencil tines, tints, change the brush thickness etc. For a couple of dollars the app is very good value.

DeleteHow amazing technology is today. Mum bought me some w/c paints that I'm dying to try out but it looks hard. Will have to investigate further (and maybe download the ap!!!).
ReplyDeleteI am kicking myself that I didn't invent this myself Petra LOL. that engineering degree has to come in handy one day I tell you. I love painting in watercolours. it's very organic and interesting but the app is the next best thing.

Love this I used to do lots of art. I did my art in pencil, charcoal, colored pencils, tried
ReplyDeletewater color and acylic and a touch of oil. My love was pastel because you can play with so many colors and find so many methods. But I have not picked up a pastel or anything since in 2008 lost my job in our tough economy. Over 50 even harder. So art turned to painting furniture
Sorry to hear about your job, Kathryn. Hopefully you are selling lots of furniture. At least you have an artistic background to do your furniture with!

ReplyDeleteI’ve always dabbled in watercolour and spent a lot of time when I was backpacking around Europe painting scenes. I then did a great course the year before last but it was half a day a week and I just couldn’t justify the time (or cost) after the 10 weeks so I think this app will have to suffice for now. I am very keen to get painting (watercolours) again but work takes priority as always.
