Next part of our trip: Liguria

Hello again: we have had sporadic wifi for a few weeks so I haven't blogged but I'll post a few catch up posts if you are interested in hearing about our italiantrip. After San Gimignano we had a night in Florence where we were taken out to dinner by my aunt and her husband. They live in Florence and the restaurant is owned by Gerry's niece. It's in the hills outside of Florence so was a bit cooler and not touristy. Fabulous catching up with them. We also spent4 nights with them in the Dolomites but I'll blog about that later. After Florence we had 4 nights in Santa Margherita Ligure. We rented a sweet apartment on the beach through Airbnb. What a great view from the french doors.

We did a lot of walking and swimming: including a theee hour hike on the Cinque Terre from Monterossa to Vernazza. A tough hike and very hot. We were grateful for the swim at the end.

We had planned to also hike from Portofino to San Fruttuoso but it was just too hot and then the weather was too wild and the boat wasn't running so we will have to come back one day to do this again anyway but Portofino was gorgeous and a lovely place to wander and spend the afternoon. Postcard perfect.

Portofino is pretty but very expensive and I actually preferred Santa Margherita Ligure. Here are some photos of this gorgoues town. Just divine; lots of trompe l'oeil and so lovely.

Hope you are enjoying these posts of our trip. We are loving it :) special time for our family

Cheers Fiona

  1. Such a colorful place! I did not notice any trompe l'oeil. Did you forget to include shots? Looks like a restful setting.
