Recently I bought a hall cabinet from the markets with the plan of painting it and selling it but it's one of those pieces that I've decided to hang on to for a while. It's in my lounge room currently under the chalkboard lady and I love how it all looks. I love having my chalkboard drawing finally hung.
I had also thought I would paint a fleur de lis or something onto those panels on the front doors or do a two-toned design on it but when it was all white it just looked finished; so I've sanded and waxed it to the softest velvety finish and this is the way it will stay. I changed the handles over to these lovely fluted cup handles as I thought they suited the style I was aiming for more than the originals.
I painted the inside of the cabinet also and am using it to store all our handmade quilts. These are mainly the ones my mother made, but two were made by aunts for when my kids were babies and two were made by me.
I still need to do one more thing before this cabinet it fully finished. One of the top drawers has dividers in it and was lined with revolting old red felt. I still need to rip this out and replace it. No rush though, it can wait till after the school holidays, I think.
I am feeling much better today, slowly getting over my head cold. I am looking forward to getting back into some exercise.
Have a lovely day,
Fiona xx

ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better. I did paint yesterday, I got started on a client's bookcase. Gosh it felt good! Need to get some paint for it from Bunnings this morning, just having a cuppa then on our way. Kids are on a promise to make gingerbread men after that!
