Edwardian Tray table - I think it's a keeper...

Every so often I come across a piece of furniture that I REALLY fall in love with.  I didn't realise this piece was one of them until I styled it for photos.  It's sitting in my hallway and the more I see it the more I really love it.  I think it might have to be a keeper - but where can I put it....

It was very dirty when I bought it and I was initially planning on painting it a soft french linen colour but once I cleaned it up I noticed how lovely the wood was. There was a very pale green tinge (like old copper) in the grooves and the bottom tray.  So instead I just gave it the lightest whitewash and a wax top coat. I am loving how it looks much lighter.

The planter bowl is beautiful, isn't it.  I bought it from Paint Me White when I was in Brisbane. It's lovely to own something from Sandy's booth.  The lantern is from Haven & Space in Berry.

I didn't think that it would be something UNPAINTED that I'm falling in love with.  But it's always good to mix it up, isn't it?

Do you have a piece of furniture you would never consider painting?  I'd love to hear about it.

  1. It is lovely Fiona. I can see why you would want to leave it as is. I was going to ask where you got that pot. Ineed to check out Sandy's shop more often I think!

  6. Fiona I have a little trolley that is unpainted and I too love it. Would never consider painting it. I found it all natural and just waxed it and left it as is. Some things need to be left unpainted that's for sure. Sandy x
