Yesterday I finished a chest of drawers that had seen better days. I couldn't find a before photo, but it was dark wood with chipped veneer. I fixed the veneer and sanded it smooth then painted it limed white. It just needed some thing extra so I decided on a couple of white stripes.
I was pretty tired when I was styling it as I'd had only 4 hours sleep the night before My daughter woke at 3am with bad dreams and by the time I got her back to sleep I was wide awake and didn't get back to sleep the whole night. Does that happen to any one else? I think its a sign that I'm getting old..Anyway I couldn't decide how I wanted it styled so there's lots of different stuff on it.
The stripes go from the top the whole way down the front, over the little waterfall edge.
Today I'm heading to a Sydney bloggers' event for Pinterest. I'll post all about it when I get home.cheers

Super cute idea Fiona! I can just imagine what the before looked like. Don't you love it when you can breathe new life into something old or dated? You did a great job and by the way no you are not getting old...everyone needs their sleep!

thanks Barbara - I love how paint transforms old furniture. Feeling much better today after a proper night's sleep!

Love the stripes, and love Limed White! Love that you are able to restrain yourself from distressing every piece...I still need to learn that, haha!

thanks Karen - I find it so hard to distress furniture and scrap away a lovely finished paint job. So it's the opposite for me - no restraint required!
Deleteooh i love this! i love those legs- we can't find pieces like this very easily in the US. i am drooling over here.

DeleteVery nice job. The stripes just make it pop. I like the staging in the last pic!
ReplyDeletethanks Beth, I think that's my fav also. I painted it all one colour and knew it needed something and was sitting her wondering about a bird on branches, harlequin, chevron and then thought all it really needs is a couple of stripes so glad you like it!
